Who

What

Join Shonali Banerjee & Sascha Demerjian for an evening of gentle yoga and tenderness for grief at Compassionate Atlanta in Decatur.

Drop in for one session or attend this new monthly offering, the last Wednesday of each month.

What to expect:

  • Shonali, a yoga therapist with over 2 decades of experience, will guide a safe, accessible breath-based movement & meditation practice while serenading you with sacred songs.
  • Sascha, Grief House co-founder, will lead a grief spill where you will be invited to share your grief, in whatever form it is showing up for you, in community with us.
  • We'll close the evening with stillness & conscious rest accompanied by Shonali's vocal healing.

Together, we'll create an intentional space for support and release. Our hope is that through this multi-sensory experience, it will bring peace and healing. You'll go home feeling refreshed, connected, and relaxed.

To bring:

  • Water and/or tea
  • Yoga mat and any personal props or blankets you may want (we will have some available as well)

About the Facilitators:

Shonali teaches breath-based accessible adaptable mindful yoga. She soothes frayed nerves with chants & songs and imparts to her students daily the importance of rest, respect and compassion. She's a burgeoning death doula and a guide of sacred life ceremonies. She's proud to have released a debut album of sacred songs, Open To Receive, in February 2022. Shonali was certified to teach yoga in 2002 with Yogiraj Alan Finger and studied yoga therapeutics and women's health with TKV Desikachar. She was certified as a Yoga Therapist with the Pranakriya Yoga school in 2013. To learn more visit www.wisemawellness.com.

Sascha is the executive director and cofounder of the Portland Grief House. The road she took to get here took her through a MSW from the University of Michigan, a PhD in Sociology from Emory University, several moves across the country, parenthood, pet parenthood, and so many deep connections and losses. She loves growing spaces and opportunities for people to be present with what is behind the mask we often wear in day to day life. She works to change the narrative along the way to allow for messiness, grief, joy in these spaces.
